The Cambridge Satchel Company was founded in 2008 by Julie Deane OBE and her mother Freda Thomas. Investing just £600 to get the idea off the ground, the company is now a handmade-in-Britain worldwide phenomenon employing more than 100 people and selling to over 120 countries. Since it’s humble beginnings at the kitchen table, the company has established a wealth of celebrity fans including Alexa Chung and Taylor Swift as well as strong support from fashion bloggers and journalists alike.
Committed to preserving British manufacturing, each bag produced by the company is handcrafted in the UK by a team of skilled craftsmen and women. Collaborations with a number of prestigious designers and retailers including Vivienne Westwood and Comme des Garcons have seen the brand’s bags grace catwalks from London to New York, further securing its international acclaim.
